A group of students
from the University of Stellenbosch in collaboration with the Rachel’s Angels
Trust participated in the Annual Two Oceans Marathon on Saturday 23 April 2011,
to raise money for less fortunate farm schools. The ‘Rachel’s Angels Two
Oceans Initiative’ was the first of its kind ever to be hosted by the
Rachel’s Angels, and the proceeds of this pilot project will go toward the
literacy and numeracy project of Raithby Primary school, a farm school adjacent
to Stellenbosch.

To signal the start of a new academic year, the Media24 Rachel’s Angels Trust hosted their Inaugural Annual Lecture at New Orleans Secondary School in Paarl on the 2nd of February 2011.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Jonathan Jansen, rector of the University of the Free State and author of Knowledge in the Blood. The theme of his address – Why you shouldn’t believe the Senior Certificate results and what to do about it – provoked interesting discussions and opinions during a 30 minute Q&A session.
