How to become a Learner

Currently 112 learners are participating in the Rachel’s Angels programme.

Schools nominate 20 learners to participate in the programme. After reviewing each learner’s application and year marks, the trustees select 7 to 10 learners to participate in the programme.

Learners are expected to attend workshops where they will learn more about study techniques, self-esteem and entrepreneurial skills. Learners are submitted to aptitude tests and receive feedback throughout the year to assist them with career choices.

Each learner is partnered with a mentor from the University of Stellenbosch (US), who will meet with the learner twice a month. The mentor will assist the learner with study techniques and self-esteem, but will also act as a life coach.

Learners will visit the University of Stellenbosch for social events and will attend some lectures at the US to familiarise them with the set-up.

In return learners will help to empower the rest of their school and community by being a positive example. The best learners will receive bursaries.
