A Rising Star - Soulful & Thoughtful

Chad Saaiman is already a star on the music scene in Cape and has recently returned from a successful tour in London. Chad has been performing professionally since the age of 18, and started penning his first songs at the age of 22.

1.     What inspired you to do what you are doing now?

The response the audience had to me singing for the 1st time in 1999 made me want to do this forever. It's a talent bestowed upon me by God and I do it for the good of others.

2.     If you could choose one person who was most influential in contributing towards your success, who would that person be?

I have had many people involved in my journey, but my brother (and manager) Lee would be that person.

3.     Are you involved / have you been involved in community work and if so how?

Yes, my recording label, Stereotype Records and I are involved with a charity called Precious Angels, who works with 600 underprivileged children from Manenburg.

4.     How do you think mentorship contributes to the development of South Africa’s youth?

I think that it's pivotal in these days and times. South Africa’s youth needs role models and mentors to not only lead the way, but to be an example of success. Not only to educate, but to show them that you can rise above your circumstances and make your dream a tangible reality.

5.     On your journey thus far, you have taken very specific routes to cultivate and reach success. What practical advice can you offer young people on your experience in that regard?

Well, I think that the fundamental part of my success is the fact that I have always worked hard. Hard work pays off. Combined with great decision making, a clear direction of where you want to go and a clear picture of exactly who you are and you'll be on that right path.

6.     If you had the opportunity to go back to when you were 18 after just completing Grade12, what one life lesson would you give yourself?

I would tell myself to love myself. To be confident and believe in what I do.

7.     Who or what inspires you?

Stories of life, love and pain inspire me. People who love me unconditionally inspire me and God inspires me.

8.     Name one goal that you would still like to achieve?

To write a song for John Legend.
