Luzelle Yon Lestrade

Luzelle Yon LestradeLuzelle Yon Lestrade completed her Master's Degree in Political Management (cum laude) as a Mandela Rhodes scholar at the University of Stellenbosch in 2007. She has been working for the United Nations in South Africa (UNHCR and ILO) since 2008 and currently serves as a community services officer at the UNHCR Regional Office for Southern Africa. Prior to 2008, Luzelle worked as a social researcher and project consultant, mainly for the South African Parliament's nation-building initiative, the Parliamentary Millennium Programme. Following the demise of Tata Mandela in December 2013, the Al Jazeera Plus youth channel on filmed a short documentary of Tata Madiba's impact on Luzelle's life. Luzelle has served on the Rachel's Angels board of trustees since the programme's inception.
